When is Al Hijra Muharram 2018? The answer to this question is as follows:  The new Islamic year (Al-Hijra / Muharram) 2018 will start in the month of September. The date and day of Al Hijra Muharram 2018  will be on the sunset of Tuesday, the 11th September (11/9/2018). This year Muharram will continue for 29 days and will end on Tuesday, 9th October 2018. These dates mary vary because all the dates depend on the sightation of moon. According to the Muslim calendar night comes first and a holiday begins on the sunset of the previous day, so according to this rule Muslims will celebrate Al-Hijra / Muharram on the sunset of Monday, 10th September, 2018.

Islamic calendar based on the sighting of moon and it is called lunar calendar while Gregorian calendar is a solar calendar so  the Al-Hijra / Muharram moves 11 days every year in the Gregorian calendar. In every country the date of Al-Hijra / Muharram may also vary depending on the whether conditions and the sighting of the moon.

All these dates are based on the Fiqh Council of North America for the celebration of Al-Hijra / Muharram 2018. Also all these dates are not based on the actual sighting of the moon.
