Eid Al Adha 2023 Celebrations With Eid Mubarak Wishes

What is Eid Al-Adha? & How to Celebrate Eid al-Adha?

First of all, we must say Eid Mubarak to all Muslims! And congratulations to all the pilgrims who will travel to Makkah this year for performing the fifth pillar of Islam(Hajj). The basic meaning of the word “eid” is celebration or feast and the meaning of Al-Adha is “The sacrifice/slaughter”. So we can say the Eid-Al-Adha is a “Celebration of the Sacrifice”.  Muslims celebrate both the Eid festivals by dressing in new clothes, going to the mosque and praying the Eid prayer, visiting friends and family, exchanging gifts, and feasting together.

Brief History of Eid-Al-Adha:

“The Celebration of the Sacrifice”, or Eid Al-Adha, has a very old history that is associated with Prophet Abraham (PBUH). Hazrat Abraham was living with his barren wife Sarah (R.A) without having any child.  The prophet and his wife wanted to have a child so Sarah asked her servant Hagar to marry his husband. She agreed and became pregnant and after a few months, she gave birth to a baby boy. They named the boy Ismaeel who was also a prophet. After a few years, Prophet Abraham saw many dreams about he was commanded to sacrifice his only son in the way of Allah with a sharp knife. It was a very hard exam of the holy prophet of Allah. He knew it was a command from Allah and went to his son and told him all about his dream and command of Allah. Rather than screaming, running away or disobedience the young Ismaeel accepted Allah’s command. So according to the plan the next morning, the Prophet took the necessary items of slaughtering and awoke Ismaeel to guide him about whole the procedure. They reached the specific place which was outside the city and Ismaeel willingly presented himself for being the slaughter in the way of God. Then Abraham uttered the name of God and was about to strike Ismaeel with the razor-sharp knife then God commanded an angel to replace the child with a ram (sheep) to be slaughtered instead. Thus in this way, both Ismaeel and Abraham were tested by their Lord and succeeded. and their spiritual stations were raised.

The prophet Abraham (PBUH) also considered the grandfather of the Prophets and the slaughter of an animal is part of the Muslims’ pilgrimage rites. The meat of the sacrificed animal is divided into three equal parts on the occasion of Eid-Al Adha. Eid al-Adha is also known as Eid al-Hujjaj – Eid of the Pilgrims – and Eid al-Adha marks the completion of the pilgrimage event.
